FAQ -- For Mentors
Blue Ribbon Scripts -- Mentoring Services by Award Winning Screenwriters
How many competition credentials do I need to mentor on Blue
Ribbon Scripts
?

Just one.  However, if you have more, then list all of them.

If I want to showcase my script on my mentor webpage does my
script have to be registered with the WGA?

Yes.  It's for your protection.

Is my script password protected?

No, so if you don't want to show your work don't submit it.  You can
always just publish a couple of pages if you want.

Do I have to follow a standard form for a review?

No, but we do have a page of "Mentoring Suggestions" for you to use as
a guidelines. These suggestions will be enhanced as we receive
suggestions from those using our mentors' services.

Can I edit my own web page?

No.  We are of the firm belief that too many webmasters spoil the site.
We are also adamant that the structure of the site remains consistent.
However, you can always email us with corrections and updates,
especially if you've placed in another competition.  Also, your page
will not be posted until we receive an email from you acknowledging
that you have read it and approve its contents.

Can I use Blue Ribbon Scripts in my email signature to promote
my work?

We encourage it.  Your address would be (insert your name):

www.blueribbonscripts.com/smith.html.

Use it in all your email signatures and it will directly link to your page.
Your personal page makes it easy to find you.

Can I charge more for my services?

Not here.  This is not a mentor competition and too many writers simply
cannot afford expensive reviewers.

How should I approach my review?

Cover the basic elements: formatting, character development, story
development, spelling, grammar, all the basics.  Help your customer.
That is why they are using your services.  Most important, be
professional.  Do NOT submit a combative review.  Do NOT insult, slam,
degrade or in anyway attack the writer.  Do not write things like "You
suck -- keep your day job."  or "This is a piece of crap."  This is not a
place to be arrogant.  Yes, you've won a competition but very few of us
started at that level.  Be respectful.  You were once a struggling writer
hoping to get to the level you're at now.

Also, any mentor who receives a request for a refund because the
review was insulting, mean or just plain nasty will receive it.  We're here
to help, not hurt.
